I was very disappointing in the customer service of whom I believe is the owner of this bike shop. I live maybe three or four blocks from the location and have had two separate occasions that were extremely similar. I noticed my handle bars were somewhat loose after a ride on a Schwinn mountain bike I had recently purchased from Target Upon my first arrival in the store, I was greeted or shall I say simply stared at as I walked my bike in. I don't necessarily need a round of applause upon entering a store but a simple 'hello' or 'how can I help you' would suffice especially when I am clearly walking a bicycle in seeking some type of assistance. Upon the non greeting, I smiled and explained the simplicity of my situation and luckily he happened to have the tool in his hand to tighten my handle bars in a quick and efficient fashion. I was appreciative and tried to engage in a friendly, inquisitive manner with a few quick questions I had regarding mountain bikes and what can be done as I am a novice to all of this. I asked about All-Terrain tires as I didn't know (still don't) if there is a difference with what can be bought and what comes on the bike. The gentleman was extremely dry, unsociable and seemed as if my coming into the store was a bother.

For 20 years and counting, I have worked in Customer Service. If I were a Secret Shopper, he FAILED MISERABLY as I seemed not a customer for the potential of repeat business but a burden that should hurry and go away. From the moment I stepped in the door, even if I were buying something, I wasn't in and didn't plan on being in longer than five minutes.

He treated me as if I walked in two minutes before closing with 101 questions and no real intent to purchase.

My second attempt in coming in a couple weeks later was almost identical. After tightening my handles bars the first time, I had a few good rides and the same thing happened again as they came lose. Before leaving home, I even made sure I had my debit card on me to purchase whatever tool is needed to prevent the handle bars from loosening again as I do not expect anything in this world to be done for free and personally wouldn't want to make repeat trips to a bike shop just to have the handle bars tightened. Although I also felt as if tightening the handle bars might be something he would do again for free and hopefully this time around, be able to give me some suggestions that I didn't receive on our first encounter.

    To no avail.

As I walked in, I tried the approach of greeting him to lighten the mood and break down any walls. Even in a hearty, 'how ya doin Sir?' I was given a blank stare that reeked of, 'what do you want?' I quickly explained the situation and asked if he remembered me from last time. He acknowledge none of what I said and simply walked around the counter stating, 'you need this. Here, $5." My only question and statement, in almost a childlike tone was, "that is fine, can you help me tighten them again?" His retort, while never looking at me but knowing it would take both of us as it did last time was, "no, you learn on your own, this is $5" as he arrogant and confidently, rang up the minimal sale. Sensing this is routine for him, but In a wishful thinking and understanding tone, I again stated, "I understand, but can you help me tighten them again?" With him simply shaking his head.

I politely declined and told him I would simply spend my money elsewhere. There aren't many bike shops to go to but I am certain to never go here again although it is in extremely convenient proximity to my home. I am not sure who's writing some of the reviews on here about but I would say it is safe to assume these are people that he knows personally.
